Time to deal with this isshh.

I have been experiencing these more often now than before. I am not sure what triggered it but I am dealing with it little by little. I know that I should have myself treated but that may cost a lot, so while I am saving up for it, here are some baby steps I take to avoid having major panic attacks.

  1. Breathing slowly
This is such a basic step that most people dealing with anxiety and depression. This helps calm one’s self and suppresses the feeling of having a panic attack. It helps me fight off the idea that I am having a panic attack.

  1. Drinking water
Drinking water hydrates your body and your mind. I was able to do some research and it says that dehydration can cause palpitations therefore adding to your panic attacks. Staying hydrated keeps you chill and at ease.

  1. Closing my eyes and think of happy thoughts
I think of days with my grandmother, who had already passed, and it makes me smile. She is my reminder that life is precious and that you should make the most out of it. I also think of my cats, their chill and relaxed life makes me feel relaxed as well.

  1. Coffee
I cannot live a day without coffee and when I am having the feeling of getting a panic attack, I drink coffee. I also made researches about this and it is said that coffee helps you focus and be more productive which aids in decreasing the feelings of anxiety. I can actually attest to this.

Aided with research, dark chocolate helps with improving anxiety because it has stress-reducing antioxidants. It also has the happy chemical called serotonin which also helps with reducing anxiety.

  1. Listen to calming music
I listen to songs that have chill melodies to calm myself. I usually listen to OPM (Original Pinoy Music) because most of the songs have a soothing melody to it. Listening to local music is my stress reliever. I also find that OPM has lyrics that really pulls your heartstrings, they’re so full of emotions.

  1. Talk to someone
If I really cannot handle my panic attack, I talk to either one of my best friends Bei or TL Ian if I am at work. They both help me calm down and ease the stress & anxiety that I am having. Talking to someone makes dealing with depression easier because it makes you feel that you are not alone in this.

Those are just simple steps that I do when dealing with my panic attacks. I am not an expert but I hope that this helps. Panic attacks are real and you should not ignore it. If worse comes to worse, just have a panic attack, let it happen. Suppressing it will make your life more difficult. If you don’t want people to see it; if you are at home, go to your room and cry it out and if you are out in the public, if it was me, I would go to the ladies’ room and cry it out there. If you are with a friend, talk to them, let them know so that you are not alone when dealing with it.

You are loved, you are appreciated and you are cared for, never forget that. Depression and anxiety is a serious matter and you are not alone in this.

Thank you for reading and have a happy week.
